How to Track Your Betting Results Properly

Dollars distort. Units, prices and CLV show what your process is actually doing.

Track in units — a fixed stake as the denominator — and every record becomes comparable: $100 means different things to different people; 1 unit means one thing.

Record the inputs, not just outcomes

For each bet: date, market, line, price taken, closing price, grade and book. The result is one column among many — and the least informative one in the short run.

Filter your own record

Aggregate by market type, book, and grade. Patterns appear that a raw record hides: one market holding units while parlays quietly bleed them is the kind of finding that changes behavior.
